I've been coaching the high school mountian bike team, and we're having an awesome season. At yesterday's race, we won three of six divisions, and in one of those, we claimed six of the top ten spots.

Booyah.

The race was at Allen Park, near Hanover, Ontario. The loop was 5.6 km long, and its tough climbs were rewarded with open, swooping downhill sections that allowed for lots of passing. Making the day even better: the triliiums were just starting to bloom.

After a long Winter's hibernation, shooting season starts again!

This shoot with Stacey and Scott started on the beach, moved to the old train station, then back to a cool bridge before finishing near some hydro towers. We tried to schedule the shoot for Saturday, but couldn't make it work. Good thing! Contrast Saturday's cold and snow with the sun and blue skies of Sunday-no comparison.

The school company just finished its run of the musical Bye Bye Birdie, for which I shot some headshots. I had my own kids with me for the shoots, and to keep them entertained, I brought along their toy light sabers. But when my kids started watching inspector gadget on YouTube, the sabers ended up sitting idle, so we incorporated them into the shoot.

Coco and Ann drove up on a snowy Saturday for a lively concert at Jade and Ryan's place. Close to seventy people filled the house, as did two big voices, keys, guitar, and even a bit of trumpet. Check out the facebook page for info on future events in this unique venue.

Kai made his first appearance just three weeks before our photographic encounter. We tried to get set up for this shoot sooner, but various injuries, surgeries, and maladies meant we broke a couple of dates before we finally made one.

When you're working with naked babies, it would be foolish not to expect a bit of a "mess". There were a couple of surprises, though.

Surprise 1: no poo.
Surprise 2: excellent arc on that stream, kiddo!

Enough silliness. Enjoy the photos.

Just so you know, I'll have a booth at the Owen Sound Bridal Show. It's coming up on Saturday, January 16, and runs from 10-4. Admission is a mere five dollars, and there will be enough florists, DJs, photogs, cake makers, and dress fiddlers to make it well worth your while. Enter my draw, and you might just win yourself a free photo shoot with yours truly- high-res digital image files and all.

It all goes down at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre in Owen Sound, and is put on by Bayshore Broadcasting. You can check out the official site here.

I've know Hailey for a few years now, and I was thrilled to hear that she wanted to do a pregnancy shoot together. She brought a bunch of outfits, I provided the space, and we got to work. I liked how we were able to put together a set of images that were distinct from each other by just varying the background and lighting- it was way too cold to go from location to location. I don't do too much studio work, but in the Winter, it is a nice option to have.
