Fireworks

Lat year on Canada day, I shot a bunch of fireworks photos from the 10th St. bridge here in Owen Sound. I pulled out all the stops in terms of technique-the camera was perched on a tripod, I used the lowest iso I could use, and used long exposures while using a black card to block extraneous light. I liked the shots a lot, and some were used to advertise this year's event.

This year, I wanted to do things differently, so I sort of threw technique out of the window. I left my tripod at home, and instead of trying (vainly) to keep my hands from moving, I used long shutter speeds to emphasize movement. It can be pretty hard to focus in the dark, so sometimes, I guessed at it, and sometimes went way off on purpose. Here's what I came up with:
