I think magnets are really cool. I always have. My son Fisher does too, and somehow, I find it fascinating when this sort of coincidence happens. So when the Rocking Horse, a local toy store brought in Nanodots, these round, strong magnet sets, I pointed them out and didn't argue when he wanted to buy some (with saved up allowance).

The geometric possibilities are plentiful with these things, which could easily be mistaken for ball bearings. This shape started out as 24 nine-ball triangles. These triangles were joined into square-based pyramids, and the pyramids were joined to make this cube.

I'll post more images of the shapes we manage to make from the set, if only to keep an easily accessible record of our achievements.

These guys are such troopers! Besides being the most laid back couple I've ever worked with, we spent a fair bit of quality time making photos in some very cold and blustery conditions. It was cold enough that we had to take a hot chocolate break in the middle, to get some feeling back in our finger tips before heading back out. As I mention this, please do note that Corrie's dress offered less coverage and wind protection than my several layers.

Besides the cold, however, the conditions outside the Best Western Inn on the Bay were awesome. The sun setting over the ice of Owen Sound harbour made for an impressive backdrop, and we kept hypothermia at bay with the set up-jacket off-take photo-jacket on technique.
